Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Therapist, Milieu is responsible for conducting initial risk assessments, de-escalating crises in the milieu, conducting process groups, and as needed, sessions with Newport Academy residents in need of immediate or emergent services.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial risk assessments for new admits 
  • Address peer issues within the community as needed. 
  • Communicate with resident’s treatment team to ensure continuity of care. 
  • De-escalate struggling clients in the community, understand crisis management techniques, and outside sources such as on-call, to support when needed 
  • Meet individually with clients who may be at risk or struggling as needed 
  • Facilitate groups with residents in the evening. 
  • Work with the Program Director and/or Clinical Director on program development, scheduling and coordinating evening services for the clinical program. 
  • Be responsible for the timely completion of clinical documentation (assessments, progress and group notes). 
  • Attend weekly clinical supervision   
  • Attend trainings as needed. 

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field
  • Pre-licensed or license eligible in the state you are applying
  • Minimum one year’s experience with children and adolescents in a residential setting
