Responsibilities

In an effort to best serve the complex and multi-dimensional needs of teens seeking residential care for mental health issue, it is the intent of Newport Academy to provide nutritional support and guidance to the staff as well as clients.  The Registered Dietitian serves to better understand the dietary needs and preferences of individual clients through assessment and consultation and to share these needs with other members of the clinical and culinary teams.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Participate in weekly treatment team meetings.
  • Perform assessments with clients with possible disordered eating or difficulties with food and body image.
  • Consult and advise clients as needed on a weekly basis.
  • Share observations and recommendations with clinical and culinary teams.
  • Documentation of all sessions in company provided EMR.
  • Communicate with families, previous providers and insurance companies upon request.
  • Quarterly training of staff in areas of specialty.
  • Lecture and present in the community as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Complete advanced coursework at educational institute accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation for Dietetics Education.
  • Satisfactory completion of CDR test.
  • Maintenance of RD Credential.
