Responsibilities

The Direct Care Training Coordinator is primarily responsible for the facilitation of Newport’s new hire trainings, as directed by the Learning and Development department. This position works directly with the Care Coordinator (CC) staff offering direction, support, and feedback as needed or as identified by the Program Leadership team. This position also assures the continued integration of best practices and Newport Healthcare standards, including both day-to-day and crisis situations, for all direct care staff. This position also acts as a liaison with Clinical and Program management to ensure that CCs have the most up to date information about individualized treatment protocols for our residents.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Develops competence and confidence of CCs through individual and/or group training session, modeling appropriate behaviors and techniques, and providing debrief sessions to enhance critical thinking skills of CCs.
  • Facilitates new hire trainings, conducts assigned portions of new hire orientation, and ensures trainings are tracked in the appropriate systems.
  • Coordinates with local HR team to ensure CCs complete HealthStream and other training courses within established timeframes.
  • Provides ongoing training and coaching to CCs as needed and/or as identified by program management/leadership and ensures direct care staff training curriculum meets local and state licensing requirements.
  • Communicates weekly and/or monthly reports to Program management about individual progress, growth, and development, or potential concerns or issues.
  • Encourages and guides the continued growth of direct care staff through the leveling system and career progression maps.
  • Provides CPI and CPR training for all new hires and annual certification.
  • Monitors and ensures, in collaboration with leadership, subcontractors are meeting state/local requirements for hours of outside training.
  • Collaborates with Learning and Development department on training curriculum and other initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, or sociology preferred.
  • Prior work experience in behavioral health treatment settings with adolescents and young adults preferred.
  • Must earn CPI trainer certificate within 90 days of start date.
  • Must earn CPR trainer certificate within 120 days of start date.
  • Valid driver’s license (for state for which you are applying) and be eligible for insurance coverage for driving company vehicles.
