Position Summary:

Prep Cook is responsible for ensuring that the preparation, presentation, and transportation of meals and snacks to residents, guests and families meet Newport Academy’s standard of culinary excellence.

Essential Duties:

• Assist in the preparation of healthy, nutritious, and organic breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks on a daily basis by chopping vegetables, making salads, and putting together entrees
• Ensure overall kitchen cleanliness including refrigerators, freezers, ovens, floors, dishes after each meal, food prep and all other responsibilities directed by Chef de Cuisine.
• Ensure refrigerators and freezers are kept clean and sanitized regularly.
• Ensure Kitchen adheres to State Health and Hygiene Requirements, also meeting Newport Academy standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• One to three years’ related experience and/or training.
• Experience in preparing and presenting meals for 50 or more people.
• State Food Safe certification
